LORE BRIEF

Designed to be referenced not read, on the most part. These are things most people know - it’s up to you what your character is most familiar with and presumably their knowledge will be more or less patchy in places.

BOLD text marks crucial details.
ITALIC text marks rumours or other uncertain facts.

This is a live document and sections which seem sparse may be fleshed out or changed.

Digamma

One of the Feni Moons around Mezcancri. All locations are on or near the settled boundary, specifically around Digamma Comms Relay, which allows some radio contact with ships and other planets. Most people are not aware of any specific settlements on Digamma, but know that it is settled. The info is here regardless because you’ve spent some time there.

TALITHA

A small community of mixed origins originally set up by a handful of friends. Talitha has almost no footprint above ground, save for the occasional ship landed there.

22 DEGREES

Originally a research outpost which now gets by growing and trading fresh food in large domes. The domes are dug in to the rock slightly to protect from radiation. Rumours that one of the biologists is part of some cult.

TELOS

The oldest settlement on Digamma, built by Stålverket but abandoned. There are mostly functional lifts down deep into the Boundary looking for exposed minerals and some mining still happens. The only safe way across the Boundary is here - a bridge.

DIGAMMA COMMS RELAY

Allows some radio communication with ships and occasionally other planets if circumstances allow. It’s generally assumed that nothing sent long distance over radio is secure.

AURORAVILLE

A failed tourist destination set into a picturesque part of the Boundary. Several luxury residences and some amenities were built before construction stopped.

Factions

Groups (mostly companies) which operate on a planet or system scale. They all want something.

AMBERCOVE

A mercenary group who also does search & rescue across Tenebris. One of the only factions to send ships out on long patrols around the system. They have a shipyard on The Iron Ring.

AZIMUTH

Made almost every virtual world in Tenebris. The bulletin boards to contact the company still function, although replies come slowly or never. Rumours that they have recently started recruiting scientists and historians.

KONBINA

Research company which seems to get money and gear from nowhere. They work on genetic engineering and agriculture. Rumours that there is a secret faction inside Konbina which runs its own projects.

LICOME & MERCURY

A manufacturing company making standard weapons and other gear. L&M used to make spaceship parts and engines in giant factories on Inauro, most of which were destroyed or have fallen apart.

STÅLVERKET

Before the Gem War, this was a large mining company based in another system; now, they’re entirely cut off and the main company organising miners in the system. Rumours that they are trying to restore their control of Messier 51 Asteroid Belt.

TRANSIT ALLIANCE

This is a union for Transportation Workers, and now some miners. It is a poorly organised group that previously won more rights for pilots that often lost decades travelling between systems.

VODYKOV

A family business started on Amissa which only seems to have gained power as most cities there collapsed. Rumours that they are using the abandoned factories on Amissa for experimental weapons manufacturing.

X

Pirates, thieves, and bandits with an ‘X’ painted onto their ships. A group of scoundrels with an unknown hierarchy.

Locations

Here’s a list of all the planets in Tenebris, from nearest to furtherest from the sun:

THE BLOCK

The one functioning part of a city on Amissa, also the largest settlement planetside in Tenebris. As Amissa collapsed, people were forced into the Block, a 36 hectare square with a population in the tens of thousands. The city’s structure provides protection from the frequent sandstorms and extreme heat.

THE IRON RING

The focal point of civilisation in Tenebris. A ring of stations and ships connected together around Inauro to form a rotating megastructure. There are large permanent markets and shops set up in central areas, as well as blocks of flats assembled from colony ships and large stations. Everyone has had their own experience of the Iron Ring.

RAMSVART SPACE DOCK

A space station on the opposite side of the system to The Iron Ring constructed from 4 colony ships. Awash with engineers and techies.

TENEBRIS 59.858B

The one bridging buoy out of Tenebris. Bridging ships arrive once or twice a year and hold a lottery to see who can leave using the experimental technology. Many have given up and started a community there.
